While game testing, we found that changes in status effects during battle could be difficult for players to track. This is especially true of status effects that naturally have a chance to wear off at the beginning of each character’s turn.
This post shows a small video clip of the new status effect popup that we’ve added to battle to help track the addition and removal of status effects. The video shows the Knight inflicted with weakest variety of Blind (called Dim) and how it naturally wears off at the beginning of the Knight’s turn. For Dim, there is a 50% chance that it will wear off at the beginning of any afflicted character’s turn.
You can see the pop-up showing the “Green X” icon (indicating the removal of a bad status effect) along with the Blind 1 (or Dim) status effect icon.
All status effects in Last Dream II are sorted into either “good” or “bad” depending on whether its something that is beneficial (e.g. ATK bonus) or not (Blind). The status effect pop-ups are separated into four different categories as follows:
1) Addition of good status effects (“Green +”)
2) Removal of good status effects (“Red X”)
3) Removal of bad status effects (“Green X”
4) Addition of bad status effects (“Red +”)
We hope this adds some valuable clarity to status effect changes in battle.
