White Mage Skills

One component of our work on the White Mage’s prologue has been a focus on her magical skills. She has a very large variety of curative magic that allows for restoring HP, reviving dead party members, curing status effects, buffing defensive attributes, resisting elemental attacks, and attacking the undead.

We’ve implemented the mechanics for nearly all of her skills but haven’t yet finished the battle animations. We’re also roughly 25% complete with implementing the skill upgrades for the White Mage.

The mage-like characters of Last Dream II (White Mage, Black Mage, Time, Mage, Gray Mage, Lore Master, and Summoner) utilize a slightly different upgrade structure for their skills. Whereas Physical classes get 6 upgrades and then master a skill, the mage-like characters get 6 minor upgrades per major upgrade and several major upgrades for each skill.

The mage minor skill upgrades are similar to the Physical class skill upgrades but the major skill upgrades allow low level skills to remain relevant throughout the game. This means that a skill like Cure which had multiple separate new skills that could be learned to replace it in Last Dream I (e.g. Cure 2, Cure 3, etc.) is now a single skill and the major upgrades are similar to Cure 2, Cure 3, etc.
