Lessons from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as We Develop Last Dream II

Posted by:

Like many RPG fans, our team has felt inspired by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. For those who haven’t yet experienced it, Expedition 33 is a potent reminder that turn-based RPGs can be creatively ambitious, deeply emotional, and highly rewarding.

As we continue developing Last Dream II, we are thinking carefully about how to make each class choice, dungeon, encounter, skill synergy, and discovery feel satisfying.

Expedition 33 also reminded us how much presentation matters. We want Last Dream II to leave a lasting impression through memorable worlds, expressive music, distinctive locations, and emotionally grounded characters.

Although Last Dream II draws inspiration from classic RPGs and Expedition 33, our goals go beyond imitation. We want to capture the spirit of adventure, discovery, customization, and danger while creating something entirely our own.

Players clearly respond to games made with sincerity and conviction, which we find encouraging. That same spirit was a key ingredient in Last Dream and Last Dream: World Unknown, and it remains central to our work on Last Dream II.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 demonstrates that the RPG genre is thriving, and we are excited to contribute to that tradition in our own way.

Thank you for supporting White Giant RPG Studios. We look forward to sharing more soon.
