White Mage Prologue Cutscenes – First Half Complete

We’ve now completed the White Mage prologue cutscenes for the first half of the prologue. This includes the introductory cutscene as well as the one that plays after you’ve completed the first dungeon and guides the storyline toward the 2nd and final dungeon of the White Mage prologue.

We’ve now completed the interiors of all of the accessible buildings within Galice (the initial White Mage town). We qualify with “accessible” since there is an inaccessible Synthesis Shop during the prologue that hasn’t yet been completed. This means that we’re now ready to start the development of the White Mage Prologue Cutscenes.

The Galice Inn

We don’t usually show map interiors, but we thought we’d make an exception this time for the Galice Inn. When playing, you get a somewhat smaller perspective and can’t (usually) see the entire area. That smaller perspective is important for dungeons so that some mystery remains as to the proper path. We thought it might be interesting to show the entire map of the Galice Inn.

Felton Swamp Enemies – Green Pixie

The last of the enemies encountered in the Felton Swamp (the second dungeon of the White Mage prologue) is the Green Pixie. This ethereal being casts powerful Wind magic (Gale) which can be countered by careful use of the White Mage’s ability to enhance the party’s magic defense. The Green Pixie also has the ability to heal the entire enemy party, so be sure to wipe out any Pixies first before worrying about any Black Ants or Constricting Vines.

Felton Swamp Enemies – Constricting Vines

The second enemy that you’ll encounter during the Felton Swamp (of the White Mage’s prologue) is the Constricting Vines. If you’ve been following our posts closely, you’ll notice the similarity of this enemy with the Nepenthes encountered in the Hunter’s prologue. These similarities made the animations for the Constricting Vines quick work for our team.

In an effort to make each continent feel unique, we are creating new environmental art for the continent of Nysa (where the White Mage and Engineer prologues take place). In our previous games, we had a limited amount of environmental art which made it more difficult to make each area feel different. Although it requires significantly more effort, we think it will be worth it in the end.
